One day tour of Sundarban Mangrove Forest from Kolkata

Kolkata to Sundarban is only 90 kms. / 3 hours drive from Science City of Eastern Metro Politian by pass opposite ITC Sonar Bangla Hotel Kolkata. For One day tour we suggest to leave Kolkata by 7.30 AM so that you can spend maximum time inside the forest specially in winter season.

Model Itinerary:

• 1030 hrs: Arrived at Gathkhali where the motor able road ends. Board the tourist boat from Gathkhali jetty. Where you will be greeted by your local guide and provided refreshments onboard. Once we cross Bidya River we will reach Gosaba. Then we will start cruising through rivers Gomor, Durgadhuwani to reach Sajnekhali Watch Tower, the controlling office of Forest Department.
• 1300 hrs: Arrived at Sajnekhali W. T , Visit the Mangrove interpretation centre, museum and Crocodile Park, understand the biography of Sundarban forest then leave for forest tour.
• 1330 hrs: Start cruising through Sharakhali 1 ; enjoy the scenic beauty of Mangrove forest along with Birds & animal sighting.. Lunch will be served on boat while cruising through forest.
• 1500 hrs: Arrived at Sudhanya khali W.T, spend some time to see the sweet water pond , you may get a chance to see the Tiger also here , most of the time during evening time Tiger sighted in this watch tower.
• 1530 hrs: Leave for Godhkhali , Evening tea will be served on boat.
• 1700 hrs: Arrived at Godhkhali , end of tour Transfer back to Kolkata by car/ coach , arrived at Kolkata by 2030 hrs

Day 01: Kolkata to Gadhkhali

• 0830 hrs: Departure from science city opposite ITC sonar Bangla Kolkata to Gadhkhali 90 kms. / 3 hrs. Journey by road ( depends on traffic condition).
• 1130 hrs: Arrived at Gadhkhali, where the memorable road ends and Cruises starts to visit the Sundarban Mangrove forest.
• 1200 hrs: Once we reach there our local representative meet & greet you with welcome drinks on board. Our non ac tourist boat is furnished with bunk bed in lower deck with attached toilet & kitchen to prepare fresh & hygienic food for our guests. Upper deck is for observing wild life with seating & dining arrangement. • 1300 hrs: We will start cruising through the rivers Gomor, Durga- duwani & enjoy the village life of the Sundarban forest. Have lunch while cruising on boat.

• 1530 hrs: Leave for village walk, Bird watching near Pakhir Chor & enjoy the Sunset cruise with evening snacks & tea.

Day 02: Sundarban to Kolkata

• 0600 hrs: Wake-up Call with bed tea
• 0700 hrs: Check out from Hotel and leave for Sajnekhali Watch Tower, which is very close to Pakhiralay and Dayapur Village on the other side of Dutta River. Sajnekhali Watch Tower the controlling office of Forest Department,obtain necessary permission to visit the Mangrove Interpretation Centre,Visit Forest Museum, Goddess of forest Banabibi Temple (Banabibi is very popular and is considered protector of inhabitants of the forest.) Sweet water pond as well as a Crocodile Park inside the Sajnekhali watchtower complex. Have lunch while cruising on boat.
• 0830 hrs: Leave for Island tour.(Bird Watching) through narrow creeks of Sharakhali 1 and Sudhanya khali watch tower - This watchtower is where most of the tigers are sighted. There's also a Sweet pond where you can see the spotted deer. Start cruising through Sajnekhali side ; enjoy the scenic beauty of Mangrove forest along with Birds & animal sighting. Breakfast will be served on boat while cruising through forest.
• 1030 hrs: Arrived at Sudhnyakhali, spend half an hour or so at the watch tower. It's a vista point to spot the Royal Bengal tigers of Sundarban. This watchtower can accommodate maximum 25 people at a time, and besides tigers, you can spot other Sundarbans wildlife, like axis deer, wild boars and crocodiles. There is a fresh water pond adjacent to the tower where the animals come to drink water, That's why the tower's strategic location is ideal for wildlife spotting.
• 1100 hrs: Leave for Gadhkhali , lunch will be served on boat while cruising.
• 1230 hrs: Arrived at Godhkhali, disembark from our boat with sweet memories of Sundarban Mangrove forest.
• 1300 hrs: Board your car/coach and Leave for Kolkata.

• 0830 hrs: Today we will start our thrilling boat Safari through various rivers, Islands & small Creeks covering Panchamukhani - a confluence of five rivers – Icchamati, Durgaduyani, Gumor and Shukna. have Breakfast on boat while cruising.
• 1130 hrs: Arrived at Dobanki W.T - This watchtower is renowned for having a 20 feet high enclosed canopy walk that extends for around 150 meters.
• 1230 hrs: Leave for return journey through Pirkhali - You may get a chance to see Dolphin also while crossing this area, Gazikhali, Chora Gazi Khali, Deul-Varani, Banbib-Varani,(Varani means narrow Creeks), Panchamukhani for bird watching and wildlife sitting. lunch will be served on boat while cruising.
• 1730 hrs: Re -Check in at hotel , free to relax
• 1830 hrs: We will served evening snacks & tea at your room or Dinning area of the respective accommodation booked for you by us.

• 1130 hrs: Arrived at Burirdabri Watch tower.Walking towards Watch Tower will be a new experience as you walk through the Mud Walk.
• Burir Dabri: This remote watchtower is located on Raimangal river(which forms an invisible border demarcating India and Bangladesh) adjoining Bangladesh, around five hours from Sajnekhali. It's notably picturesque and has a canopy walk over the mangroves that lead to a viewpoint with a panoramic view of Bangladesh. Some of the extinct and rare trees like Sundari Tree (Heritiera fomes), Pasur tree – (Xylocarpus Mekongensis) of Sundarban. Also see Garan Tree -(Ceriops decandra)and Kankra Tree (Bruguiera gymnor hiza),Golpata Tree (Nypa fruticans) can be seen while cruising through Burirdabri Khal. The tigers of Sundarbans are often heard of camouflaging themselves behind these Golpata trees.
• 1230 hrs: Leave from Burirdabri watch tower.

• DoBanki watch tower (W.T): This watchtower is renowned for long canopy walk, which is 20 feet high from ground.It resembles a flyover with a 12 ft high side fencing of grill and strong net in the form of a canopy to protect tourists from wildlife. This walkway offers a beautiful view of the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve forest. Here too, like the other camps, there is a sweet water pond. you will also see some rare precise of Trees like Heritiera Fomes (Sundari Tree) Pasur tree–(Xylocarpus Mekongensis) of Sundarban. also see Golpata Tree (Nypa fruticans) and the other one is Ceriops Decandra (Garan Tree).
• Netidhopani: Netidhopani-optional tour subject to get permit from forest department. with extra cost This is another watchtower in the series of several watchtowers and is associated with the legend of Behula and Lakhindari. Legend has it that Behula,while accompanying her dead husband on his last journey on the boat, was passing the bank of what is now called Netidhopani, saw an interesting thing. A woman was washing clothes and a child was continually disturbing her.Annoyed, she sprinkled some water on the boy. The boy became lifeless. The woman finished her laundry and then again sprinkled some water on the boy, chanting some mantras, to bring him back to life. Behula decided in a flash that this was the person who could bring her husband back to life. She rowed the boat to the bank and asked the lady Netidhopani) to teach her the verses. This lady was instrumental in bring back. In fact, Behula reached heaven from this Ghat. Today this watchtower offers one a view of the ruins of a 400 year old Shiva Temple. It is also believed that there is a road on the extreme right of the forest which was built by King Pratapaditya to guard the coastal area. It is now covered with earth. There is also a sweet water pond. This watch tower has a capacity to host 20 persons at a time.
• 1230 hrs: Leave for Sudhanyakhali through Panchamukhi–a confluence of five rivers –Icchamati,Durgaduyani,Gumor,Shukna and Banabibi Bharani(Narrow Channel inside the mangrove forest)Lunch will be served on boat while cruising.
• Sudhanyakhali: It's a vista point to spot the Royal Bengal tigers of Sundarban. This watchtower can accommodate maximum 25 people at a time, and besides tigers, you can spot other Sundarbans wildlife, like axis deer, wild boars and crocodiles. Day 01:

• In this tour, we will cover the following places. Pick up & drop from Kolkata to Jharhali Jetty by car/coach according to group size. The boat journey starts from Jharkhali Jetty of the Sajnekhali Range Forest office of Sundarban Mangrove forest, Jharkhali is basically a Tiger Rehabilitation Centre of Sundarban, but if you are interested in visiting Bonnie Camp & Kalash Island then it's better to start your journey from Jharkhali instead of Gathkahli Jetty. If you are unable to reach Jharkhali by 9  Am or so You may stay at Jharkhali. and start your tour the next day early morning.

Day 02:

• We will start our journey from Jhar Khali to Bonnie camp, The point to be noted in this tour is you have to stay in a Boat only, at present accommodation available from the Forest department is closed.

Day 03:

• Early morning we will start for Kalash Island to enjoy the Sunrise from Kalshdeep of Sundarban which is very close to the Estuary of Matla River and the Bay of Bengal, then return to Bonnie camp for a night stay on a boat. during the cruise, you can see the villages of Sundarban.

Day 04:

• We will start from Bonnie camp towards Jharkhali Jetty, if you wish, on the way back you can visit Netidhopani & Dobanki Watch Tower with extra payment and then end of Sundarban tour.

• 0900 hrs: Arrived at Dobanki W.T

• 1000 hrs: leave for Jharkhali for obtaining permission for Bonnie camp. We will cross Panchamukhani - a confluence of five rivers – Icchamati, Durgaduyani, Gumor, Shukna.
• 1200 hrs: Arrived at Kharkhali. obtain the permission and leave for Bonnie camp at 1300 hrs.
• 1700 hrs: Arrived at Bonnie camp. For overnight stay.

Day 04: Bonnie camp to Kalas Camp

Kalas Island Located on the banks of the Bay of Bengal and laying beside it the Kalas beach. Over an area of 4 acres.

• 0600 hrs: Leave for Kalas Island tour, visit Gazi beach then leave for Kalas deep and Kalas beach,spend few hours ,breakfast & lunch will be served on boat while cruising, return back to Kalas Camp for overnight stay. Evening snacks with tea and dinner will be served on boat.
  Please note: Although provision for night stay inside the camp is there but at this moment tourists are not allowed to stay over there except the officials of Tiger reserve.

Day 05: Kalas camp to Jharkhali watch tower.

Birds of Sundarban is an another Attraction - 1 night / 2 days

We arrange the Bird watching tour to Sundarban for 1 night / 2 days, 2 nights / 3 days and 3 nights / 4 days to cover most of the popular sighting places of birds available in Sundarban including the migrated birds during the winter season. Please note that for Bird watching we suggest a group of 4 to 6 heads are ideal, if you plan to visit specially for Bird watching tour with a group of 10 heads or more, you may miss the opportunity not only watching Bird, other animals too.

Model Itinerary:

Day 01: Kolkata to Gadhkhali

• 0800 hrs: Departure from science city opposite ITC sonar Bangla Kolkata to Gadhkhali 90 kms. / 3 hrs. Journey by road (depends on traffic condition).
• 1100 hrs: Arrived at Gadhkhali, where the memorable road ends and Cruises starts to visit Mangrove forest.
• 1130 hrs: Once we reach there our local representative meet & greet you with welcome drinks on board. Our non ac tourist boat is furnished with bunk bed in lower deck with attached toilet & kitchen to prepare fresh & hygienic food for our guests. Upper deck is for observing wild life with seating & dining arrangement. Once we cross the Bidya River we will reach Gosaba Bazar to the opposite side of Gadhkhali jetty. on the way we usually pay a visit to the Gosba Island,Heritage Bunglow of Sir Daniel Mackinnon Hamilton's who also known as FATHER OF SUNDARBAN FOUNDER OF ASIA'S 1ST CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY. (If time permits) Then we will start cruising through the rivers Gomor, Durga- duwani & enjoy the village life of the Sundarban forest.
• 1330 hrs: Arrived at Sajnekhali Watch Tower, the controlling office of Forest Department, obtain necessary permission to visit the Mangrove Interpretation Centre, a Bono Bibi Temple as well as a Crocodile Park in the Sajnekhali watchtower complex. Have lunch while cruising on boat.
• 1400 hrs: Leave for Island tour covering Sharakhali1, enjoy the sundown cruise
• 1730 hrs: Arrived at Hotel/Resort/Lodge where your accommodation is already booked for overnight stay.free to relax at your room.
• 2030 hrs: Dinner will be served at Hotel/Resort/Lodge where your accommodation is already booked. Or you may enjoy the dinner cruise also if you wish to do so with us.

Day 02: Sundarban to Kolkata

• 0600 hrs: Wake-up Call with bed tea
• 0700 hrs: We will start our thrilling boat Safari through various rivers , Islands & small Creeks covering Pirkhali - You may get a chance to see Dolphin also while crossing this area , SarakKhali, Sundarkhali , Gazikhali, Chora Gazi Khali, Deul Varani, Banbib Varani. For bird watching and wild life sitting.lunch will be served on boat while cruising.
• 1600 hrs: Arrived at Godhkhali, disembark from our boat with sweet memories of Sundarban Mangrove forest .
• 1630 hrs: Board your car/coach and Leave for Kolkata.
• 2000 hrs: Arrived at Kolkata. End of tour.

• 1830 hrs: Arrived at Pakhiralay check-in at Resort/Hotel/Lodge as per pre- reserved for you. Eve snacks with Tea will be served during cruise.
• 2030 hrs: Have Dinner.

Day 02: Pakhiralay / Dayapur to Dobanki & back

• 0600 hrs: Wake-up Call with bed tea
• 0630 hrs: Visit Rangabeliya village, Pakhir Chor , Satgila village side, Dayapur village side, enjoy the village walk. visit Sajnekhali watch tower, visit the museum & Crocodile park at Sajnekhali forest, Breakfast will be served on boat while cruising.
• 1130 hrs: Return back to Hotel fresh up.
• 1300 hrs: Have lunch on boat then we will start our thrilling boat Safari through various rivers,Islands & small Creeks covering Sharakhali 1 & 2 Pirkhali range , and at last visit Sudhnyakhali watch tower.
• 1600 hrs: Arrived at Sudhanya Khali watch tower in the late evening spent an hour or so then leave for Pakhiralay/ Dayapur village.
• 1630 hrs: leave for Pakhiralay/ Dayapur , recheck in for overnight stay.
• 1800 hrs: Arrival at hotel, fresh up and free to relax.
• 1830 hrs: we will serve Evening Tea and Snacks
• 2030 hrs: Have Dinner

Day 03: Pakhiralay/ Dayapur to Kolkata

• 0600 hrs: Wake-up Call with bed tea
• 0700 hrs: Leave for Dobanki , we will cross various narrow creeks and rive of Mangrove forest for Birdwatching Gazikhali Khal(Cannel), Chora Gazikhali, Sundarkhali, Nobanki, Khonakhali. Breakfast will be served on boat
• 1000 hrs: Arrived at Dobanki W.T
  DoBanki: This watchtower is renowned for long canopy walk, which is 20 feet high from ground. It resembles a flyover with a 12 ft high side fencing of grill and strong net in the form of a canopy to protect tourists from wildlife. This walkway offers a beautiful view of the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve forest.Here too, like the other camps, there is a sweet water pond.
• 1100 hrs: Leave from Do banki Watch tower.For Gadh khali,We will cross Panchamukhani - a confluence of five rivers – Icchamati, Durgaduyani, Gumor, Shukna. Again we will cross Bali Island then we will visit banabibi Varani the most attractive and beautiful narrow creeks of Sundarban Mangrove forest.
• 1530 hrs: Arrived at Godhkhali, disembark from our boat with sweet memories of Sundarban Mangrove forest.
• 1600 hrs: board your car/coach and Leave for Kolkata
• 1930 hrs: Arrived at Kolkata. End of tour
